ED Profee Medical Coder

As an Emergency Medicine Coder-Profee, your role will involve reviewing medical records, diagnoses, procedures, and services provided by healthcare providers to accurately assign ICD-10 codes. You will need to ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and industry standards specifically for ED (Emergency Department) settings. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals will be essential to address any discrepancies or questions related to code assignment. Keeping yourself updated with changes in coding guidelines, new technologies, and industry developments is also a key responsibility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing medical records and assigning accurate ICD-10 codes
• Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines for ED settings
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to resolve coding discrepancies
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations
• Staying informed about coding guideline changes and industry developments

The qualifications required for this role are:

• 1.5 - 6 years of experience as an Emergency Medicine Coder-Profee
• CPC or CPC-H certification would be an added advantage
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II codes
• Proficiency in Profee software is preferred
• Ability to work independently from home with minimal supervision
• Strong time management skills are necessary
