Our mission is to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Summary: Join our team to provide essential healthcare services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our residential programs, which include apartments and group homes across Washington, DC, Montgomery, and Prince George’s County. Our nurses play a pivotal role in promoting the health, wellness, nutrition, and medication management of our residents, empowering them to live their best lives in the community.
Schedule & Location: Monday-Friday flexible hours to include some weekends and on-call. The RN will travel to locations across Washington, DC, Prince George’s and Montgomery County, including our main office in Silver Spring.
You will drive your own vehicle and receive mileage reimbursement.
The salary for this position is $86,000-88,500 annually
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing assessment and care plans for people supported by NCC
- Supervises the clinical function of LPN’s, CMTs and TMEs and documents supervision according to regulatory requirements
- Initiate and implement orders for medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician
- Monitor individual needs for TB testing, immunizations and health certificates
- Maintain communication regarding individual health, status with parents, physicians and all other care providers; maintains current, “Health Passports” for individuals.
- Refer people/families to health-related and community programs as needed
- Provide guidance and consultation to program staff regarding the management of people with special health needs
- Develop and implement guidelines regarding universal precautions and maintaining a safe environment for people and staff
- Prepares all documentation and participates in the annual Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Person-Centered Plan (PCP) process
- Provide staff training on health-related issues
- Develop and implement health-related training for people NCC supports
- Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team process
- Provide developmental assessments for people as part of team
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities strongly preferred (professional or lived experience)
- 3 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Nursing
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland and the District of Columbia
- Delegating Nurse in Maryland and District of Columbia (or complete the orientation upon hire)
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed)
