Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks Supervisor, Laboratory Medicine in New York, NY responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the day-to-day work of microbiology laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, including planning microbiology laboratory work, evaluating work performed, and handling procedural and technical laboratory problems to meet the needs of the clinical staff and patients. Monitor Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Safety, and Inspection Control practices to assure compliance with internal and external regulations. Supervise area operations, prioritize workflow, and assign staff to meet the needs of the laboratory. Prepare work schedules and assign work to subordinate employees. Consult with managers to verify procedure for specimens that do not follow protocols. Direct and supervise activities of staff in assigned areas, training and evaluating their performance, and providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for development. Ensure staff compliance with all standards, policies, and procedures of the laboratory that adhere to regulatory and accrediting agencies. Review policies and procedures with staff and assess ongoing competency of technical employees and initiate corrective interventions. Determine training, cross-training, and in-service needs of staff and develop and implement plans accordingly in assigned areas.  Perform audits, reviewing work completed by subordinates to ensure accuracy, implementing quality assurance and improvement programs when identified. Identify aspects of care provided by the laboratory and suggest indicators and criteria to ensure that aspects of care are reviewed and measured at intervals. Design methods of data collection, paying consideration to ease of access and source accuracy. Prepare quality assessment reports. Maintain technical superiority in all aspects of laboratory operations. Verify patient identification in each step of each procedure. Complete all required documentation and produce necessary reports to ensure that information is accurate and meets laboratory standards. Select and evaluate new laboratory equipment, supervising the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure accuracy and quality. Keep abreast of new equipment and make recommendations for purchase and implementation of replacement of old items. Supervise maintenance of all equipment in assigned areas, responding to equipment breakdown immediately by contacting appropriate individuals for repairs and recommendations. Ensure staff compliance with all laboratory safety guidelines including infection control, standard precautions, chemical safety, and radiation safety. One day remote work per week permitted. REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Technology or a closely related field and 5 years of experience in the position offered or related. Requires 5 years of experience performing and analyzing clinical specimens in a microbiology laboratory. Qualified applicants must possess a NYS Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.

SALARY:                  $125,400.00 - $200,700.00/year
