Job Description
Matchtech is working with a key client in Toronto to support the recruitment of a Technical Writer to work on high profile railway projects.
Our client, a leading player in the rail industry, is currently seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join the dynamic Rail & Transit team in Toronto on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to play a significant part in shaping complex transportation infrastructure projects that move communities forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, review, and format technical documents for transportation infrastructure projects, including reports, procedures, standards, specifications, and technical submissions
- Edit documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, and compliance with style and quality standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (rail systems, civil, structural, electrical, systems engineering, and project management) to gather and organise technical content
- Translate engineering and technical information into clear, concise, and well-structured documentation for internal use, clients, and stakeholders
- Support document review cycles, revisions, and version control in accordance with project requirements
- Apply established templates, style guides, and document control processes
- Coordinate with project teams to meet schedules, milestones, and deliverable requirements
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Technical Writing, Technical Authoring, or a related field
- Degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; a degree in Engineering or Architecture is beneficial but not required
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to understand technical concepts and work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and document formatting tools
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
