Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Ironwave Management. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.
The Sales and Events Manager is responsible for driving overall hotel revenue and implementing effective yield strategies across all segments, including group and transient rooms, group food and beverage, meeting space rentals, local catering, and other revenue streams. This role focuses on optimizing market mix, pricing strategies, and sales initiatives to maximize profitability while delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will lead and motivate the sales team to achieve established goals, while maintaining accountability for market performance, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue targets. Additionally, this role participates in the overall hotel operation as a Manager on Duty, contributing to a seamless and high-quality guest experience.
Responsibilities - The essential functions of the Sales and Events Manager position include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Drive overall sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue, ADR, and occupancy goals.
- Identify market trends and demand patterns to maximize opportunities in all seasons.
- Proactively solicit, secure, and grow key accounts, group business, and events.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to optimize profitability while ensuring client satisfaction.
- Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans to increase market share.
- Analyze sales performance (booked vs. actualized) and adjust strategies to improve results.
- Manage group blocks, transient mix, and function space to maximize total hotel revenue.
- Lead the end-to-end client journey from prospecting through on-site event execution.
- Serve as the on-site contact for events, ensuring seamless coordination and service delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, revenue management, and marketing teams.
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and reports aligned with financial objectives.
- Recruit, train, and mentor sales team members to drive performance and accountability.
Travel: The Sales and Events Manager will be traveling, as needed.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Five to seven years of sales and marketing leadership in similar sized operation preferred.
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Lightspeed, Fosse and Delphi.
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
- Extensive knowledge of sales.
- Ability to assess/evaluate Associates’ performance fairly.
- Extensive knowledge of revenue management.
- Ability to recruit, supervise, train and motivate multiple levels of managers and associates.
- Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.
- Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management.
