Position
Mackenzie Investments is seeking a Multi-Asset Trading Associate to join our Multi-Asset Strategies Team. This is a front-office role on investment team, working directly alongside portfolio managers and traders to execute across equities, derivatives, and FX. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the full trade lifecycle across a wide range of asset classes, including equities, derivatives, and foreign exchange. This position requires a hands-on, highly organized individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced front-office environment, and who can communicate effectively across teams to ensure trade integrity and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Support trade execution, partnering with traders to ensure timely and accurate order placement across multiple asset classes.
- Perform pre-trade checks including compliance validation, liquidity assessment, and trade feasibility.
- Own the trade lifecycle end-to-end, from trade generation, execution, confirmation, settlement, and t-cost analysis.
- Reconcile executed trades with expected outcomes, quickly identifying discrepancies and taking initiative to resolve breaks.
- Act as a key point of contact between trading, portfolio management, and operations, confidently following up to ensure issues are addressed without delay.
- Investigate and escalate trade exceptions, demonstrating strong attention to detail and persistence in resolving root causes.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation, identifying inefficiencies and proposing practical solutions.
- Maintain a strong risk and control mindset, ensuring all trades meet regulatory and internal standards.
Minimum Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in trading, trade execution, or trade operation roles within asset management or capital markets.
- Direct exposure to trade execution or order management systems (OMS) is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of catching and resolving errors in high-pressure environments.
- Assertive and proactive communicator—comfortable following up, asking questions, and pushing issues to resolution.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Solid understanding of equities, derivatives, and FX trade flows.
- Experience with Bloomberg OMS and advanced Excel; Python or automation experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- a) Knowledge of French and English is required to support clients and Team members within and/ or outside the province of Quebec.
- b) As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $90 000 - $140 000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
