OVERVIEW
As the Area Sales Manager, this role will be instrumental in advancing the company's five-year growth strategy within the mining industry in Ontario. The position focuses on driving sales revenue by developing strong, in-depth relationships with key stakeholders, including consulting engineers, mining companies, and sales channels within Ontario's mining hubs. The successful candidate will be measured by revenue, growth, customer engagement, and strategic expansion of market share and presence in the mining sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Building Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers. This involves effective communication, understanding customer needs, providing relevant information, and addressing any concerns or objections.
- Internal Communication and Collaboration: Support the company's 2030+ strategy and collaborate with the sales and engineering teams. Actively attend sales management meetings, contribute to peers' success, identify challenges, and work with the team to find innovative solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations while maintaining value for the company.
- Product Knowledge: Have a deep understanding of the products or services being sold. This includes knowing their features, benefits, and competitive advantages, as well as being able to effectively communicate this information to potential customers.
- Sales Presentations and Demonstrations: Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations or demonstrations to showcase the value and benefits of the products or services. Tailor the presentations to the specific needs and interests of the customer.
- Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate effectively to find win-win solutions for both the customer and the company.
- Customer Relationship Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, preferences, and sales activities using a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
- Manage KSB's installed base of water and slurry pumps in Ontario. Develop strong relationships with end users who are operating KSB - GIW pumps.
- Opportunity Identification: Identify and pursue opportunities with consulting engineers, end users, and mining operation sites in Ontario's mining hubs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, related technical certification, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in sales, business development, customer relationship management, or a related commercial role.
- Five or more years of relevant experience in the mining market, industrial sales, pumps, slurry applications, or a related technical market is preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular travel to customer sites within Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan is required.
- Customer engagement by phone and in-person customer visits
- Further occasional travel within Canada and to the United States may be required for training, exhibitions, customer meetings, or factory visits.
