Medical Coder and Biller

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Coder and Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases). Duties

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding based on documented diagnoses and procedures
• Ensure all coding aligns with current coding standards, guidelines, and payer requirements to facilitate accurate reimbursement
• Prepare and submit clean claims for insurance billing using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies to maximize revenue recovery
• Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports coded diagnoses and procedures
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete records
• Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding updates, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy

Experience

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, with familiarity in both outpatient and inpatient environments preferred
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and medical terminology
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and claim submission
• Understanding of medical records management, billing procedures, and insurance reimbursement processes
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately
• Prior experience in medical collection practices is a plus
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA is desirable
