Job Description
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit a professional candidate with strong communication skills to work in the capacity of:
FIRE SERVICE INSTRUCTOR
(Rotation, Permanent)
Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator and in collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer and the École Nationale des Pompiers du Quebec (ÉNPQ), the Fire Service Instructor will facilitate various firefighter-related courses, leading to the NFPA 1001 and Firefighter 1 certification of volunteer firefighters, as well as any other training deemed necessary by the Civil Security Department.
More specifically, the Fire Service Instructor is responsible for the following:
- Lead and facilitate training for Nunavik’s volunteer firefighters, such as NFPA Firefighter 1001 Level 1 & 2 /, auto-extrication, etc.
- Develop strong working relationships with community Fire Chiefs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a regional recruitment campaign for volunteer firefighters.
- In collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer, plan, schedule, and organize required training courses for all 14 communities.
- Ensure the use and adaptation of ENPQ required pedagogical and didactic materials.
- Ensure that the training facilities in Kuujjuaq are kept in good working condition.
- Assist in revising funding reports and budget follow-ups as required.
Required qualifications:
- Certified firefighting instructor by the ENPQ (IFSAC/Pro Board NFPA 1001, Firefighter 1, NFPA 1041).
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Be available to travel frequently in the Nunavik region.

Salary: Min. $52,481 – Max. $89,256 a year
Benefits*:
Lodging is paid while working in the northern villages. Meals and expenses paid while travelling in Nunavik;

Statutory holidays: 20 days, including 10 during the Christmas holidays.
Rotation work schedule:
Option 1: 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly)
or
Option 2: 4-2 rotation schedule: 4 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 2 weeks’ paid leave (35 hours weekly).

AGENT, AGENTE DE FORMATION DU SERVICE D’INCENDIE
(Rotation, permanent)
Sous la supervision du coordonnateur de la sécurité civile et en collaboration avec l’agent de formation des pompiers et l’École nationale des pompiers du Québec (ÉNPQ), l’agent de formation du service d’incendie animera divers cours pertinents aux pompiers, menant à la certification NFPA 1001 et Firefighter 1 des pompiers bénévoles, ainsi que toute autre formation jugée nécessaire par le Service de la sécurité civile.
Plus précisément, l’agent de formation du service d’incendie est chargé des tâches suivantes :
- Diriger et faciliter la formation des pompiers bénévoles du Nunavik, telle que NFPA Firefighter 1001 Level 1 & 2/, l’autodésincarcération, etc.
- Développer de solides relations professionnelles avec les chefs du service des incendies de la communauté.
- Aider à l’élaboration et à la mise en œuvre d’une campagne régionale de recrutement de pompiers bénévoles.
- En collaboration avec l’agent de formation des pompiers, planifier, programmer et organiser les cours de formation obligatoires pour les 14 communautés.
- Veiller à l’utilisation et à l’adaptation du matériel pédagogique et didactique prescrit par l’ÉNPQ.
- Veiller à ce que les installations de formation à Kuujjuaq soient maintenues en bon état.
- Aider à la révision des rapports de financement et des suivis budgétaires, le cas échéant.
Qualifications requises :
- Agent de formation du service d’incendie accrédité par l’ÉNPQ (IFSAC/Pro Board NFPA 1001, Firefighter 1, NFPA 1041).
- Minimum de trois (3) ans d’expérience pertinente.
- Connaissances pratiques de Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellentes compétences en communication orale et écrite, tant en français qu’en anglais; connaissances de l’inuktitut, un atout.
- Excellentes compétences en analyse, planification et organisation.
- Disponibilité pour voyager fréquemment dans la région du Nunavik.
