Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Specialist will be responsible for a broad based client portfolio. The Specialist will partner with clients to support talent acquisition activities including, attraction, selection and recruitment of top talent.

The Specialist will review/research and make recommendations on innovative recruitment strategies, provide guidance and support on HR policy, collective agreement provisions (as applicable), and compliance with employment-related legislation.

The Specialist will inform best practices in recruitment and retention strategies and contribute to the development of standard operation procedures.

AS THE HR SPECIALIST IN RECRUITMENT YOU WILL:

  • Manage the complete recruitment cycle, expertly guiding hiring managers in the attraction, selection, recruitment and onboarding of new employees
  • Work with internal clients to implement innovative recruitment strategies for key and hard-to-fill roles
  • Build effective networks and relationships to ensure a strong pipeline of top talent for hard-to-fill roles, including highlighting passive candidate talent pools
  • Provide expert and evidence-informed guidance to hiring managers, based on a comprehensive knowledge of legislative guidelines and interpretation of workforce analytics
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers to support fair and equitable hiring decisions in line with HR policies, evidence-informed practices and collective agreements
  • Support client groups to maintain up-to-date posting language
  • Recommend and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance service to clients and the candidate experience
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to gather, maintain and communicate recruitment data that supports clients’ decision-making
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Human Resources Information System data and reports

Qualifications Include:

  • A minimum post-secondary degree as well as a diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent, is required
  • Completion of or working towards CHRP or CHRL
  • Minimum 3 years’ recent experience working in a recruitment capacity is required, including; creating job postings, interview guides and applicant lists; developing screening questions to enable filtering of applicants; coordinating interviews; conducting reference checks; and issuing employment offers.
  • Experience in partnering with hiring managers in a unionized environment, to develop innovative recruitment strategies for difficult to fill positions required
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated success using applicant tracking systems to engage and attract top talent
  • Experience in a health care environment considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply employment legislation (e.g., Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, etc.), Human Resources Policies and Collective Agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain effective relationships with candidates, clients, and team members
  • Ability to multi-task and skillfully manage competing priorities
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, deadlines and processes
  • Exceptional customer service focus
  • Experience working with HRIS systems
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of workforce analytics
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
