Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will architect and scale financial systems processing billions of data points for real-time credit decisions. You will lead technical strategy across teams like Banking or Lending, building robust backend infrastructure in Python. This high-impact role involves re-architecting systems as Parafin expands its multi-product financial suite for small businesses.

What You Will Do

• Design and maintain high-performance backend systems in Python to support complex lending, banking, and merchant decisioning workflows across the entire platform.
• Lead the architectural evolution of the infrastructure as Parafin scales from one to three business lines, ensuring reliability and scalability across distributed systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Risk to ship high-impact features like real-time underwriting and embedded AI-driven credit products.

The ideal candidate

• Has 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling production-grade backend systems at high-growth fintech or startup environments.
• Demonstrates deep expertise in Python, distributed systems, API design, and cloud infrastructure within AWS or GCP environments to handle massive data scales.
• Possesses strong technical leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers and driving complex, end-to-end technical projects from early design through production launch.
