Role Summary
The Law Enforcement Response Specialist will join the Safety & Claims team and report to the LER Lead. This role partners closely with Legal and other internal teams and requires a strong commitment to confidentiality. The team uses a data-informed, customer-focused approach to help keep the platform compliant with local, state, and federal requirements. The work combines urgent response handling, evidence collection, and detailed investigations tied to misconduct and compliance matters on the platform. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week and may involve work outside standard hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle urgent requests from law enforcement related to Instacart’s rules for sharing user information.
- Investigate cases to identify users and retrieve relevant records.
- Prepare accurate replies to valid subpoenas, warrants, and court orders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Genuine interest in law, policy, and privacy matters.
- Working familiarity with legal terminology and the criminal justice systems in the US and Canada.
- Ability to explain complex legal and policy issues clearly to internal and external partners, including in sensitive or high-profile situations.
- Composed, careful, and detail-oriented approach when dealing with emergency situations.
- Comfort using Google Drive for collaboration.
- Basic data analysis skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of relevant privacy laws and regulations.
- Experience with investigative tools used to search and locate records from limited information.
- Basic SQL knowledge.
- Prior experience in legal operations or privacy operations.
- Comfort using Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF editing tools.
Compensation and Benefits
This position is remote and the base pay depends on the candidate’s permanent work location in the United States. Compensation is market-competitive and may vary based on experience and skills. The role also includes eligibility for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
Base Pay Range by Location
- California, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey: $27.88 to $29.33 per hour
- Washington: $26.44 to $27.89 per hour
- Oregon, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Hawaii: $25.48 to $26.93 per hour
- All other states: $23.08 to $24.28 per hour
