Day to Day:
An employer is looking for a Test Engineer to join their Electronics Hardware Engineering Team in Redmond, WA.
This person will not be writing their own test plans but need to be able to read python and work with the design and engineering team to articulate the testing results and what needs to be changed. The Design Team will create the test plans, pass it to this person who will test, troubleshoot and deliver the results. Down the road this person will deliver the results to the Engineering team for large scale execution. This person should be able to carry out automation, will not be writing automation scripts themselves. This person will need to have hands on experience with oscilloscopes and power supplies. They need to have strong hands on experience with PCBA and have a strong troubleshooting mindset.
Must Haves:
Experience PCBA testing
Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes and power supplies
Python – executing the scripts not coding
Ability to read and analyze electronic schematics
Knowledge of voltage dividers, currents, voltages, inductors, capacitors,
Understands the charging of the satellites
Understand electronic components and how it works
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for hardware systems
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Production environment ideally
Document test procedures, results, and hardware defects
Degree in electrical engineering
Plusses:
Modifying a resistor or capacitor
Soldering
Created test benches
Background in Design – can read and change schematics
Programming experience in languages such as Python, C, Rust, or similar
Familiarity with test automation concepts and frameworks (LabVIEW, PyTest, LabCVI)
Understanding of common electronics test equipment interfaces
Basic scripting knowledge for test automation
Familiarity with SI/PI concepts
Familiarity with common electronics communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN)
Responsibilities Perform electrical testing and validation of electronic hardware components and assemblies
Set up, calibrate, and operate test equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and signal generators
Execute hardware test plans and procedures for circuit boards and electronic systems
Analyze test data and identify hardware failures or performance issues
Support hardware debugging and failure analysis activities
Collaborate with hardware engineering team to develop and improve test methodologies
