The Electronic Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, soldering, inspecting, and testing electronic components and circuit boards used in our research devices. This is a hands-on role that requires independent work, strong attention to detail, experience with electronic assembly techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a production team.

Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Soldering
- Assemble PCBs, sub-assemblies, and full product systems according to assembly drawings and work instructions
- Perform precision soldering of surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components
- Wire, crimp, and route cables/harnesses within devices as required
- Operate hand tools, soldering irons, and other bench equipment
Testing & Inspection
- Conduct visual inspections for soldering quality, component placement, and mechanical integrity
- Perform basic functional testing and test fixtures
- Document assembly processes, test results, and any deviations or rework performed
Prototype Support
- Perform hands-on electrical and mechanical tests on prototypes and production units to confirm performance and reliability
- Assist engineers during prototype builds by testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies to pinpoint and correct issues
- Used hand and power tools to make mechanical adjustments, repairs, and alignments on electronic enclosures and assemblies
Production & Process Support
- Maintain clean, organized, and ESD-safe workstations
- Follow quality assurance procedures and assist in identifying areas for process improvement
- Assist with packaging and final assembly of completed products for shipment
- Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve build or component issues

Qualifications
- High school diploma or technical certification in electronics, engineering technology, or a related field
- 8-15 years of experience in electronic assembly or production
- Proficiency in soldering SMT and through-hole components (IPC and NASA standards a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs
- Familiarity with electronic testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope)
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, focused team
