The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. Project Brief:
PHFI in collaboration with Government of Sikkim is implementing the project “Codevelop, Implement and Evaluate a sustainable model for cancer prevention in Sikkim”. The core objective of the project is to co-develop, implement, and evaluate a statewide, evidence-based cancer prevention and early detection program that integrates life skills-based school interventions, behavior change campaigns in colleges, and community outreach activities to effectively promote healthy behaviors, enhance cancer literacy, and reduce modifiable cancer risk factors among school going adolescents, college youth, and communities in Sikkim.
Job Summary
Implement project activities in assigned district: in schools, colleges, and relevant ethnic community groups.
Deliverables:
The major duties and responsibilities will include:
- Liaise with school/college administrations, community leaders, and local health/education officials to mobilize participation and ensure smooth rollout of the project activities.
- Conduct outreach, sensitization sessions, and needs assessments in target sites.
- Recruit, train, and supervise local facilitators/volunteers for intervention delivery.
- Monitor daily/weekly progress; collect data on activity reach, attendance, and feedback using provided tools.
- Organize district-level events, workshops, and monitoring meetings as per project timelines.
- Report weekly updates to the Project Research Scientist – II/State Consultant; flag issues for timely resolution.
- Ensure adherence to protocols, ethical standards, and cultural sensitivities in ethnic communities.
- Maintain records, and support data compilation for reports.
- Perform any other district-level tasks assigned by the Project Research Scientist – II / Supervisor for the project / Division, as required.
Qualification:
Essential
- First-class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees.
- Second-class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with PhD
- For Engineering/IT/CS-First Class Graduate degrees of Four Years.
Desirable:
- PhD in health or allied field.
- Handled a minimum of five projects relevant to the requirement as
- Principal Investigator or Co-PI.
Experience
Essential
- 1-3 years of experience in conducting Public Health Research or programme implementation.
Desirable:
- More than 3 years of experience in conducting Public Health Research.
Skills & Competencies:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in conducting trainings, meetings, and workshops.
