Azure SQL Database Administrator (Healthcare Domain)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure SQL Database Administrator to design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions for a USA-based healthcare provider organization. The candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing databases to support healthcare applications, including claims, member, and provider data.

Key Responsibilities

Database Design & Development

• Define and create Azure SQL databases, schemas, tables, views, indexes, and relationships
• Design data models aligned with healthcare business requirements
• Ensure normalization, data integrity, and optimal schema design

Database Administration

• Manage Azure SQL Database instances, elastic pools, and related services
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and execution plans
• Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies

Security & Compliance

• Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and data-level security
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA
• Manage encryption (TDE, Always Encrypted) and auditing

Performance Optimization

• Identify performance bottlenecks and tune SQL queries and stored procedures
• Monitor DTU/vCore usage and optimize cost-performance balance
• Use tools like Query Performance Insight and Azure Monitor

Data Integration & Support

• Support ETL processes and data pipelines (Azure Data Factory preferred)
• Collaborate with application, analytics, and AI teams for data access and integration

Maintenance & Operations

• Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades
• Ensure high availability and uptime of database systems
• Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolution

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience with Azure SQL Database and Microsoft SQL Server
• Expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization
• Experience with Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and ARM templates
• Knowledge of backup/recovery, HA/DR strategies in Azure
• Familiarity with healthcare data models and standards
• Strong understanding of data security and compliance (HIPAA preferred)

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or Data Lake
• Exposure to AI/analytics platforms working on structured healthcare data
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments
• Knowledge of Power BI or reporting tools

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills for working with offshore/onshore teams
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical database design
• Proactive problem-solving and ownership mindset

Nice to Have

• Experience in healthcare payer/provider systems
• Understanding of EOB (Explanation of Benefits), claims processing workflows
• Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate)

Shift Timing

• Evening/Night Shift – 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM (IST)

Experience

• Minimum 8-10 Years of an experience.

Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,456,876.99 per year
