Laboratory Assistant / Junior Formulator Company

Raupyam Labs is a specialized personal care research and development facility. We focus on the creation of high-quality cosmetic and personal care formulations. We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to support our lead formulators in the daily operations of our Goregaon-based laboratory.

Job Purpose

The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for the foundational tasks of the lab—from the precision weighing of raw materials to the meticulous maintenance of laboratory hygiene. This role is essential for ensuring that our experimental batches are accurate and that the lab environment remains compliant with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Formulation Support & Weighing

• Accurately weigh and measure raw materials (oils, emulsifiers, actives, and powders) according to provided Batch Sheets.
• Prepare phase-wise ingredients (Oil phase, Water phase, Cool-down phase) for the Lead Formulator.
• Maintain a clean and organized "Weighing Station."

2. Equipment Operation

• Operate basic laboratory equipment, including digital weighing scales, overhead stirrers, high-shear homogenizers, pH meters, and viscometers.
• Monitor temperatures during the heating and cooling phases of emulsions.
• Perform basic calibration of equipment to ensure data accuracy.

3. Lab Maintenance & Sanitation (Critical)

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize laboratory glassware, utensils, beakers, and manufacturing equipment after every batch.
• Ensure the laboratory remains "audit-ready" at all times.
• Manage waste disposal according to safety and environmental protocols.

4. Documentation & Inventory

• Assist in maintaining the Lab Notebook and digital records of batch observations (color, texture, pH, etc.).
• Track raw material inventory and alert the team when stocks are low.
• Label and organize sample retains and raw material containers.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: B.Sc. in Chemistry, B.Pharm, or a related Diploma in Cosmetic Technology/Chemistry. (Freshers are welcome to apply).
• Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in weighing and documentation is non-negotiable.
• Technical Skills: Basic understanding of O/W and W/O emulsions and the functions of surfactants and preservatives.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and handle the manual cleaning of laboratory equipment.
• Location: Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near Goregaon/Malad/Andheri for an easy commute.
