Job Description
Honey is a design and marketing studio working in food, beverage, and agriculture. Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a Brand Strategist to join the Honey team. Curiosity is at your core – you are a strategic thinker looking beyond your surroundings to find inspiration and are open to growth and learning new things. You look for insights in data and have the ability to ideate unique tactics for brands to help tell their stories, especially for those within food, beverage, and agriculture. You are a multitasker who can juggle various projects, with the ability to give and receive feedback from the team. You pay close attention to the details and are eager to collaborate with a team of creatives. Most importantly, you are dedicated to creating thoughtful work, the team, and clients you collaborate with, and embodying Honey’s core values and commitments to being an anti-racist company.
This position has a hybrid (in-office and remote) work schedule. Honey’s offices are located in Sacramento, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Manage the scope of work and provide input for robust, multi-faceted client projects in accordance with Honey’s processes as developed by Honey's leadership.
- Lead the ideation and development of strategies (marketing, brand, campaign, website, social media, advertising, etc.) and briefs (creative, content, photography/videography) for clients and team members that are clear and effective, utilizing creative, strategic, and analytical approaches.
- Manage the implementation of strategic tactics and completion of deliverables, coordinating and collaborating with Honey project team members, clients, and external partners. This includes executing a range of tasks, both large and small, that may arise to ensure strategic and timely execution.
- Facilitate new client requests, working with the project team to develop solutions, coordinate timing, and working with the Marketing Director and Strategy Director to determine business development opportunities.
- Guide, review, and provide feedback to project team of assigned clients/projects, ensuring all work created is aligned with the approved strategy prior to sharing with client.
- Contribute to project kick-off and project completion phases by supporting the Leadership team in briefing the Honey team, managing project briefs of assigned projects, and ensuring clients are educated on how to best use the strategies, materials, and assets created for them throughout the project.
Client and Partner Relationships
- Build and maintain professional and positive relationships with clients. Work as a liaison between clients and Honey to share important information, address needs in a strategic manner, and improve understanding between parties.
- Oversee client communication through the strategic process, in coordination with the marketing and design teams, including; recurring meetings, strategy development, presentations, writing, etc.
- Strategize opportunities for clients to continue working with Honey by identifying additional Honey services or support that would be beneficial for their future success; support business development process for current clients.
- Foster relationships with current and new partners (photography, videography, public relations, copywriters, development, brand partners, advertising, etc.) and ensure contracted scope of work is on-strategy and completed in a timely manner. Work with fellow project leads, Marketing Director, Art Director, Strategy Director, and Creative Director to determine best fits for clients/projects and support the facilitation of the quoting process with both partners and clients.
Team Contributions
- Provide feedback to the marketing team when needed; participate in brainstorming sessions and review strategic documents to provide input on a wide range of strategies (brand, campaign, messaging, website, packaging etc.).
- Seek to inspire the Honey team by sharing industry trends/insights, news, and resources that can influence strategic thinking. Infuse passion for understanding projects, audiences, markets, products, messaging, and creative.
- Collaborate with Marketing Director, Strategy Director, and Honey leadership to help build and manage successful strategy practices.
- Embody Honey’s core values and commitments to be an anti-racist company in the development of work and interactions with team, clients, and the broader community.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent level of experience required
- 5+ years of related industry experience, preferably brand experience at an agency or company in Honey’s niche
- Experience in managing the successful completion and strategy of a variety of projects, including brand development, websites, campaigns, and packaging
- Demonstrated track record of developing client relationships
- Prior experience working with various teams, including design, production, website development, PR, media/advertising
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
- Strong understanding of a range of direct-to-consumer and business-to-business (wholesale/retail) marketing strategies.
- Knowledgeable in Honey’s niche industries: agriculture, food and beverage, and wine.
- Ability to synthesize data in a thoughtful manner and apply it toward creative strategy across all projects.
- Highly proficient in digital platforms (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Mailchimp, WordPress, Wine Direct, Shopify, Squarespace, etc.).
- Communicate and present ideas and strategic decisions clearly and effectively to clients as well as the internal team.
- Effective organizational skills, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
- Appreciation for good design and ability to contribute to creative collaboration with design and marketing teams.
