Job Description
Director, Talent Acquisition
Remote across Canada (Eastern Standard Time) · Toronto hybrid welcome
At Juno Veterinary, we are on a mission to ensure every pet and Juno team member has the support they need to thrive. Our ultimate vision is to establish a stellar standard for the veterinary industry — the Juno standard of care. We are seeking to challenge a traditional industry by establishing this standard across Canada, not just for our Members and their pets, but also for our team of veterinary professionals, who are at the heart of everything we do. We are just getting started, and we cannot wait to meet you.
We are assembling a team of innovative thinkers across consumer-tech and veterinary medicine to build a new experience for consumers and providers. We are looking for someone who shares our vision and wants to be a major part of shaping the future with Juno. We are looking for someone who loves the idea of building something meaningful, contributing to the Mission, and being part of a growing company committed to making a positive impact on veterinary medicine in Canada.
Recruitment is not a support function at Juno — it is a growth engine. As we scale across existing and new markets, we are looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to take ownership of how we find, attract, and bring on board the very best veterinary professionals in Canada. This is a role for a strategic talent leader who is ready to build something exceptional.
Who We’re Looking For
You are a strategic talent leader with deep experience in healthcare or veterinary medicine recruitment. You understand what it takes to attract top-tier clinical professionals in a competitive, specialised industry — and you know that the candidate experience, from first touchpoint to first day, is a direct reflection of the brand. You’ve built recruitment functions before, not just filled reqs. You think in pipelines, not just postings. You plan six months out, a year out, and you bring your stakeholders along with you.
You are as comfortable presenting a talent strategy to a leadership team as you are building a grassroots search or coaching a hiring manager through a difficult offer conversation. You leverage technology — including AI tools like Claude — to build smarter, more efficient funnels. You are a collaborator, a communicator, and a builder. And you care deeply about doing right by every single candidate who comes through your process.
This role reports directly to the Head of People and will work cross-functionally with clinic operations, medical leadership, and the broader Juno team to ensure our talent engine is always running.
As Director of Talent Acquisition at Juno, you will:
- Own the full recruitment function for Juno’s clinical teams — including DVMs, RVTs, MECs, ACAs, and Practice Managers — across existing and new clinic markets
- Build and lead a proactive talent strategy that plans 6–12 months ahead, aligned with Juno’s clinic growth roadmap and new market expansion
- Spend time in clinics and actively build relationships that support our DVM pipeline in particular
- Design and deliver an unreasonably good candidate experience — from first outreach through to offer acceptance and onboarding handoff — that reflects the Juno brand and differentiates us in the market
- Serve as a true thought leader on talent: bring innovative ideas on sourcing, employer branding, candidate engagement, and how Juno can be a standout employer of choice in Canadian veterinary medicine
- Own and optimise Juno’s ATS (Greenhouse) — ensuring pipeline hygiene, reporting, and data integrity that enables smart hiring decisions
- Leverage AI tools, including Claude, to build more efficient sourcing funnels, improve outreach, and reduce time-to-hire without sacrificing quality
- Partner closely with the Head of People, clinic operations leads, and medical leadership to align hiring plans with business needs and opening timelines
- Lead the offer process for all DVM and senior clinical roles — presenting offers with care, clarity, and a strong understanding of total compensation
- Build and manage relationships with external partners including veterinary schools, professional associations (ie, OVMA, OAVT), and sourcing channels
- Draft and maintain employment agreements, offer letters, and related documentation in collaboration with the People team
- Contribute to Juno’s recruitment newsletter, LinkedIn and any other employer brand touchpoints that keep Juno visible and compelling in the market
- Track and report on key recruitment metrics — time to fill, pipeline health, candidate NPS, regrettable turnover in clinical roles — and use this data to continuously improve
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of progressive recruitment experience, with a strong preference for veterinary medicine, healthcare, or a specialised frontline service industry
- Demonstrated experience leading a recruitment function or team — this is a builder role and you’ve built before
- Multi-unit or multi-location recruitment experience; comfort working with frontline teams who deliver a specialised, high-quality service
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — you’ve worked alongside operations, finance, and clinical leaders and know how to earn trust quickly
- Deep proficiency with ATS platforms, ideally Greenhouse, and a genuine enthusiasm for leveraging technology to work smarter
- Experience with or curiosity about AI tools (Claude, Juicebox, Workable, Metaview or similar) as recruitment enablers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can run a leadership presentation and write a compelling cold outreach message with equal ease
- A candidate-first mindset: you believe that how we treat candidates is a reflection of who we are as a company
- Ability to operate on Eastern Standard Time and connect with candidates and stakeholders across Canadian time zones
- Comfort working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where things move quickly and the playbook is still being written
Compensation Transparency
Juno Veterinary is committed to compensating our team members fairly, competitively, and with clarity to support you in your growth.
This role has a base salary range of $130,000 to $165,000 per year, with a bonus component starting at 10% of base salary, presenting the opportunity for additional earnings on top of your base salary.
We’ll keep it real with you. This range reflects the variation in experience and skillset an individual could bring to this role — from building your skills, to becoming accomplished, to being highly proficient, all the way to achieving excellence. As you grow in the role, your compensation reflects that journey.
