Job Description

Senior Compensation Specialist

Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid – 60% In‑Office)

Type: Full‑Time, Permanent

Compensation: $95,000 – $105,000 base salary + benefits + incentives

This is an opportunity to join a well‑established, technology‑driven publicly listed company operating at scale across North America and international markets.

As a Senior Compensation Specialist, you’ll take ownership of compensation programs, HR analytics, and HR systems reporting. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, critical thinking, and improving how things are done — not just following existing processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end‑to‑end compensation lifecycle, including salary reviews, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentive programs (RSUs, stock options, DSUs, PSUs).
  • Lead market pricing and benchmarking across Canada and the U.S., ensuring roles are properly matched and internally equitable.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, risks, and inconsistencies, and provide clear, defensible recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Support compensation decisions for new hires, promotions, and internal transfers, balancing market data with internal context.
  • Manage and validate a complex, spreadsheet‑driven annual bonus process involving multiple leadership groups and structures.
  • Partner closely with Finance on compensation budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Act as the owner of HR analytics and reporting, building, automating, and maintaining dashboards and reports using HR systems and BI tools.
  • Proactively review data before distribution, anticipating executive‑level and board‑level questions.
  • Identify upstream data issues (e.g., job changes, leveling discrepancies) and work with HR partners to correct them.
  • Serve as the primary point person for HR systems reporting and analytics, working with IT and external vendors as needed.
  • Support HR projects, system enhancements, and process improvements related to compensation and reporting.
  • Assist with immigration and global mobility tracking in partnership with external advisors.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience managing compensation programs end‑to‑end.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to question data and spot inconsistencies before they become issues.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex spreadsheets).
  • Experience working with an HRIS and producing HR analytics and reporting (experience with UKG and BI tools is an asset).
  • Confidence engaging with senior leaders and following up to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • High attention to detail, particularly when working with compensation and people data.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills in deadline‑driven environments.
  • Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to adapt in environments where processes are evolving and judgment matters.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset, not a requirement.
