Job Description

Data & Technology Analyst — Social Impact

(Parents as Early Teachers Program)

Organisation: Gyan Prakash Foundation (GPF)

Location: Pune, Maharashtra

Job Type: Full-time (Offline / In-person)

Reporting to: Head of Programs

About Gyan Prakash Foundation

In rural India, government primary schools educate the majority of our children — yet too often, they are seen as the last option, not the first choice. Over the last decade Gyan Prakash Foundation has partnered with government systems in Maharashtra and Goa to reimagine rural primary education, not through isolated programs, but by strengthening how the existing system itself functions at the ground level.

Recognising that strong learning foundations begin before primary school, we have expanded our work through the ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) Anganwadi system to build parent awareness and encourage engagement with children from age 3 onwards. The Parents as Early Teachers (PaET) programme aims to strengthen parents’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to early childhood development through a combination of government system strengthening and technology-enabled parent engagement. This supports continuity of learning and school readiness, enabling children to transition into government primary schools with curiosity, confidence, and essential foundational skills.

The program has reached around 600 Anganwadi Sevikas and around 8000 parents till date. As we scale from 5,000 to 50,000 parents across multiple districts, we are looking for a curious and analytical individual who can help us use data and technology to improve programme effectiveness.

About the Role

We're looking for someone who lives at the intersection of data, technology, and social impact. You'll decide what's worth measuring, dig into our systems to find what's missing, and roll up your sleeves to build the workflows that capture it. This is a hands-on role for a generalist who can think strategically about data and execute practically with low-code tools.

What You’ll Do

Data Strategy & Curation

  • Identify which metrics and data points genuinely matter for tracking program outcomes, trends, and impact
  • Translate program and field-team needs into clear, trackable indicators
  • Distinguish signal from noise — recommend what to measure and, just as importantly, what to stop measuring

Systems & Gap Analysis

  • Examine transactional systems (CRM, case management, field data tools) to assess data quality and completeness
  • Identify gaps: what's not being captured, where data breaks down, and what new fields or processes are needed
  • Map data flows end-to-end, from field collection to reporting

Build & Automate

  • Use DIY/WYSIWYG and low-code tools (e.g., Airtable, Zapier/Make, Power Automate, KoBoToolbox, Google AppSheet) to configure forms, workflows, and automations
  • Set up dashboards and reporting (Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar)
  • Iterate on tools based on feedback from program teams

Analysis & Insight

  • Analyze data to surface trends, flag anomalies, and inform program decisions
  • Present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years in data analysis, MIS, M&E, or a tech-adjacent role (social sector experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical instinct — comfortable deciding what data matters, not just crunching what's handed to you
  • Hands-on with low-code/no-code tools, or a demonstrated ability to learn them fast
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and at least one BI/visualization tool; SQL a bonus
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn enough technology to be dangerous — you don't need to be an engineer, but you shouldn't be afraid of one
  • Clear communicator who can bridge technical and program teams
  • Genuine interest in the social sector and mission-driven work

Nice to Have

  • Experience with M&E frameworks or impact measurement
  • Familiarity with field data collection tools
  • Basic scripting (Python/SQL) for data wrangling

Compensation

Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy pay scales and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The selected candidate will be required to work from the head office in Pune and collaborate closely with programme and field teams.

How to Apply

Interested candidates may send their CV along with a brief note (not exceeding 300 words) to the email address below, with the subject line: ‘Application for Data & Technology Analyst: Social Impact-PaET)

Why are you interested in this role?

An example of a situation where you have used data to solve a problem or generate insights.

Please note: This is a full-time, in-person role based in Pune. Candidates should be willing to work from the office and collaborate closely with programme and field teams.
