Job Title: IMS DB2 Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad

Experience: 8+ Years

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IMS DB2 DBA to manage, support, and optimize IMS (Information Management System) and DB2 databases in a mainframe environment. The ideal candidate must have strong mainframe skills, hands-on IMS database administration expertise, and experience supporting high-availability enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain IMS DB, IMS DC, and DB2 subsystems in mainframe environments.
Perform database design, implementation, schema changes, and database object maintenance.
Handle database performance tuning, query optimization, buffer pool tuning, and system-level performance improvements.
Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning for IMS and DB2 databases.
Conduct IMS database reorganizations, pointer validations, and space management.
Monitor and troubleshoot IMS & DB2 database issues, logs, jobs, and system resource utilization.
Work with development teams to support application deployment, data modeling, DDL changes, and SQL reviews.
Execute PDS load, unload, utilities (REORG, LOAD, COPY, RUNSTATS, RECOVER) and IMS utilities.
Ensure high availability, data integrity, and compliance with organizational security standards.
Participate in on-call rotation for production support and incident resolution.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands-on experience as an IMS DBA and DB2 DBA in a mainframe environment (z/OS).
Strong knowledge of IMS Full Function & Fast Path databases (HALDB, HDAM, HIDAM).
Experience with IMS tools such as:
IMS Utilities, IMS Explorer, IMS Admin Tools, IBM Tools
Proficiency in DB2 administration:
DB2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, RECOVER, RUNSTATS), SQL optimization
Solid understanding of JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF, SMP/E, SDSF.
Experience with Change Management tools (Endevor, Changeman, BMC tools).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and performance tuning abilities.
