Position Overview

The Inside Counter Sales, Customer Service & Warehouse Associate is a hybrid role that combines three critical pillars of our operations:

• Counter Sales & Customer Service: Directly assist customers, answer inquiries, process transactions, and provide technical support.
• Warehouse Operations: Receive and organize shipments, manage inventory, and operate material‑handling equipment safely.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales, inventory, and management teams to ensure a seamless experience for every client.

This position is based in Valdosta, GA, with a standard Monday‑through‑Friday schedule (7:30 AM – 5:00 PM). It is an excellent entry point for individuals looking to build a career in industrial supply, retail sales, or supply‑chain logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Counter Sales & Customer Service

• Greet customers warmly as they approach the sales counter, establishing immediate rapport.
• Listen actively to customer needs, recommend appropriate products, and demonstrate equipment usage when applicable.
• Manage inbound phone calls, providing prompt, accurate information and escalating complex issues to subject‑matter experts.
• Process sales transactions using the point‑of‑sale (POS) system, ensuring compliance with pricing, discount, and tax policies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge through regular training sessions, vendor webinars, and hands‑on testing of new items.
• Document customer interactions in the CRM system, helping the team track buying patterns and improve service delivery.

Warehouse Duties

• Unload deliveries, inspect items for damage, and verify quantities against purchase orders.
• Accurately label, shelf, and record inventory in the warehouse management system (WMS) to maintain real‑time stock visibility.
• Operate a forklift safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines, to move pallets, load trucks, and relocate bulk supplies.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory audits.
• Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards; promptly report any safety concerns.
• Assist with order picking, packing, and staging for customer pickups or freight shipments.

General and Collaborative Responsibilities

• Partner with the sales team to fulfill customer orders efficiently, ensuring no gaps between front‑end promises and back‑end delivery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, escalating to management when necessary while maintaining a calm, solution‑focused demeanor.
• Participate in weekly team huddles, sharing insights from the sales floor and the warehouse floor to drive continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new welding technologies, safety equipment innovations, and emerging competitor offerings.
• Take on special projects such as merchandising displays, inventory optimization initiatives, or community outreach events.

Essential Qualifications

• Customer‑Service Mindset: Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, empathize with customers, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Basic Technical Knowledge: Prior exposure to welding, metalworking, or related industrial products is highly advantageous.
• Forklift Certification: Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience handling palletized loads.
• Physical Stamina: Capability to lift up to 50 lb, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
• Computer Proficiency: Comfortable navigating POS, CRM, and WMS platforms; basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Multitasking Ability: Proven track record thriving in fast‑paced environments while juggling multiple priorities.
