The Operations Manager (Oilsands) plays a critical frontline leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations across multiple Oilsands sites. Based in Fort McKay, this position is ideal for a practical, safety focused leader who enjoys being close to the operation, solving problems in real time, and keeping complex warehouse environments running safely and efficiently. Job Description
Major Job Functions:
Daily Warehouse Operations (35%)
- Executes receiving, picking, shipping, inventory control, workforce scheduling, and equipment coordination.
Safety Compliance & Training (25%)
- Implements safety programs and compliance requirements in alignment with Oilsands safety standards.
Workforce Supervision & Coaching (20%)
- Leads Supervisors and frontline employees, ensuring training, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
Operational Issue Resolution (10%)
- Addresses operational problems, workflow issues, and customer order‑related challenges within scope of authority.
Process Adherence & Improvement Support (10%)
- Ensures compliance with operational standards and contributes to improvement initiatives defined by senior leadership.
Education & Experience
- Post‑secondary training or certification in logistics, warehousing, or business (preferred).
- Supervisory experience in warehouse or industrial environments, with direct accountability for daily operational performance, accuracy, safety, and productivity.
- Strong background in warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, shipping, inventory and stock management, and materials handling.
- Proven safety leadership capability, including knowledge of Oilsands safety and operational requirements, Finning safety practices, and WHMIS/TDG compliance aligned to Manager II expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline employees, including training, onboarding, performance management, and on-site issue escalation.
- Effective planning and coordination skills, including workforce scheduling, work planning, equipment utilization, and workflow optimization.
- Solid customer service orientation, with the ability to resolve operational and order related issues within scope of authority.
- Strong problem-solving skills, applying sound judgment in fast paced, operational environments.
- Working knowledge of warehouse systems and MS Office, with the ability to follow and reinforce established procedures and operational standards.
