About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer with a strong background in Kotlin and distributed systems to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining microservices that support our client, a leading meal kit company, in optimizing their supply chain processes and internal tools.

Your expertise will contribute to creating scalable, efficient, and reliable solutions that enhance operational efficiency across multiple regions. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, front-end developers, and business intelligence units, to deliver innovative solutions that meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of commercial experience with Kotlin development
• Proficiency in working with event-driven architectures using Kafka
• Experience with stream processing and Kafka Streams Processor API
• Strong knowledge of Gradle build tool
• Extensive JVM-based engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps methodologies
• Practical knowledge of TDD, BDD, DDD, and distributed architectural patterns
• Experience in end-to-end development processes, including testing, architecture design, and application tuning
• Familiarity with relational and document databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
• Solid backend development experience within microservice architecture using Kotlin and Java
• Upper-Intermediate level of English proficiency

Responsibilities

As a Backend Engineer at Intellias, you will assume development and operational responsibilities for the HelloFresh platform, which serves millions of users globally. Your role will involve designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining microservices that form the backbone of our client's supply chain and internal tools. You will work within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating closely with product managers, front-end engineers, designers, and business intelligence teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Taking ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operational aspects of microservices, employing DevOps practices, pair programming, and other advanced methodologies
• Contributing actively to team discussions, providing innovative solutions, and mentoring colleagues to foster a collaborative environment
• Developing scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend solutions using state-of-the-art technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spark, Kubernetes, and Istio
• Ensuring the performance, security, and stability of the applications through continuous monitoring, tuning, and optimization
• Implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and functional testing, to maintain high code quality
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Staying updated with the latest industry trends and integrating new technologies to improve existing systems and processes
