Job Description

As part of the Leadership Team, you will support, develop, hold accountable, and lead teams of Coordinators, subject heads, and class teachers together. Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance will be a pivotal part of the daily role, ensuring we continue to develop our strategies to empower our students and also our teachers within the classroom. You will contribute to the development and administration of a robust Performance Management system will be introduced to support teachers. The Vice Principal will work strategically in producing and developing the timetable, overseeing all aspects of examinations and working to develop a greater breadth in the curriculum to raise the achievement of all students at all levels.

KEY STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the Leadership team, the needs of the student will always be your priority, you need to:

1. Lead and manage the school’s team of middle leaders to ensure the delivery of curriculum supports all students and exceeds the expectations of all stakeholders.

2. Support the Principal in a program of lesson observations, evaluating effective teaching, and advising on staff contract renewals.

3. Coordinate the collection, tracking, analysis and presentation of assessments and other key academic data.

4. Coordinate the cycle of reporting to parents.

5. Ensure effective reporting to and communication with parents, guardians, and other agents in line with the school’s policies and procedures.

6. Develop a consistent and effective approach with all Middle Leaders and teachers in the academic delivery of the curriculum coupled with the health and general happiness of students.

7. Work closely with the Principal and create an atmosphere of joined up thinking.

8. Support and assist students to ensure that they understand and are actively adhering to School’s policies, including the issuing of sanctions, incentives, and rewards.

9. Together with Leaders, we celebrate the academic success of the students.

10. Together with Leaders, develop strategies, targets, and letters for students with academic concerns.

11. Hold meetings with the appropriate teams to discuss the academic performance of students.

WIDER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Follow the guidelines of the staff handbook.

2. Support the School and its leadership.

3. Continue personal development as agreed.

4. Engage actively in the performance review process.

5. Develop systems of communication to keep staff, students, and all stakeholders up to date with day-to-day news and the longer school calendar.

7. Develop and keep information Handbooks up to date for staff and parents.

8. Assist in the hiring and training of staff.

9. Assist in the on-boarding procedure of new teachers, including a buddy system and ongoing academic induction when in school.

11. Be courteous to colleagues and parents and to provide a welcoming environment for all visitors to the School.

12. Maintain standards of ethics and behavior in and out of school.

13. Treat students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect.

14. Have regard for the need to safeguard students’ well-being.

15. Show tolerance of and respect for the rights of others.

16. Maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.

17. Help to create and maintain a safe working environment for everyone.

18. Substitute for the Principal where necessary.

Qualifications

  • B.A/B. S degree in teaching or a related field in the subject area from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in the discipline being taught is preferred.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school and state preferred.
  • Computer literate with knowledge and proficiency of current word processing software.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
