Sr. Cyber Security Engineer

Overview

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer / Security Architect provides advanced cybersecurity engineering expertise to support the design, implementation, and operation of secure systems across NCATS infrastructure. This role focuses on security architecture, security control implementation, and integration of cybersecurity practices into system development and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture

• Design and maintain cybersecurity architecture for NCATS systems.
• Support implementation of Zero Trust Architecture and secure system design.
• Conduct architecture reviews for new and existing systems.

Security Engineering

• Integrate security controls into infrastructure and applications.
• Support secure configuration of operating systems, databases, networks, and cloud environments.
• Implement identity, credential, and access management solutions.

DevSecOps Integration

• Ensure security-by-design principles across the system development lifecycle.
• Provide guidance on secure coding practices and application security.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Map system functions to NIST 800-53 controls.
• Assist with control implementation validation and documentation.
• Support RMF documentation and system authorization activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or related field
• 8+ years cybersecurity engineering experience
• Strong experience in security architecture and system engineering
• Experience implementing NIST security frameworks

• CISSP
• CCSP
• AWS Security Specialty
• GIAC certifications
