Security Operations / Network Security Engineer

Position Overview

The Security Operations / Network Security Engineer manages network security infrastructure and supports day-to-day cybersecurity operations across NCATS systems.

Key Responsibilities

Network Security Management

• Manage firewall configurations and network security rules.
• Maintain network segmentation and security zones.

Security Monitoring

• Monitor network activity and system logs for suspicious behavior.
• Ensure logging systems meet federal security monitoring requirements.

Firewall and Infrastructure Security

• Implement secure firewall configurations using least-privilege principles.
• Conduct routine firewall rule reviews and system updates.

Compliance Support

• Maintain configuration documentation and change control records.
• Support network compliance with federal security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
• 5+ years network security engineering experience
• Strong experience with firewall management and network monitoring

Preferred Certifications

• CCNP Security
• CISSP
• Security+
