Job Description
About Equinox
Equinox Software Design Corporation (www.equinox.ca) is the company behind CROW (Control Room Operations Window), a mission‑critical platform used by over 1,000 electric utilities and independent system operators across North America to safely, efficiently schedule, manage, and report outages and incidents on the grid. Now entering our 33rd year of business, our team values calm, focused work, long‑term relationships, and sustainable careers.
The role
We are hiring a permanent full‑time junior‑ to mid‑level Full‑Stack Application Developer with experience in C#, .NET, Angular, and MS SQL Server to help evolve CROW for the next decade. This is a remote role for residents of British Columbia, Alberta, or Saskatchewan, with core work hours of 9 am - 5 pm Pacific Time.
You will:
- Design, develop, and maintain new and existing features in our flagship CROW product across backend and frontend
- Participate in the full development lifecycle: clarify requirements, design, implement, write tests, fix defects, and support build/release
- Review and work within a large, existing codebase to understand how components relate to each other and to the business problems they solve
- Collaborate closely with other developers, QA, and product stakeholders in a small, highly communicative team
- Work directly with customers and end users at times to gather requirements, understand workflows, and provide product support
- Partner with QA to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve issues quickly and accurately.
Core tech stack
You will work primarily with:
- C# and .NET for backend services and business logic
- MS SQL Server for data access; we also value experience with Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- HTML5 and SASS for UI implementation, following detailed visual design guidelines.
Nice‑to‑have experience:
- Angular and TypeScript for the web front‑end
- PrimeNG or similar component libraries
- XML/XSLT/XSD/WSDL for integrations and data exchange
- LINQ for data access.
What we’re looking for in this role
You:
- Have roughly 1-5 years of professional experience with C#, .NET, and web development (internships and co‑op can be part of this for junior candidates)
- Have hands‑on experience building production applications with C#/.NET and a modern front‑end framework
- Are comfortable working with relational databases, writing SQL, and understanding how application features map to data models
- Write clean, maintainable code and apply good object‑oriented design practices.
- Are able to work through technical challenges, including debugging complex issues and learning unfamiliar parts of the system
- Have the judgment to know when to keep digging on your own and when to ask for help so that progress isn’t blocked
- Can take a feature from concept through implementation, testing, and delivery with reasonable independence appropriate to your level
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and can collaborate effectively in a remote team
- Are self‑motivated, manage your time well, and take ownership of your work from start to finish
- Pay attention to detail and accurately implement visual and interaction designs.
From a working‑style perspective, you:
- Are productive and disciplined in a remote environment, and comfortable with focused individual work
- Are inquisitive, ask good questions, and like to understand “why” not just “what”
- Are respectful of coworkers and customers and enjoy building long‑term working relationships.
