Job Description
Agronomist – Soil Health & Crop Advisory
Location: Pusa Krishi Campus, New Delhi
Company: Ekosight Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
Employment Type: Full-Time
About Ekosight Technologies
Ekosight Technologies is an agri-tech startup building innovative soil intelligence solutions that enable farmers to make data-driven decisions. Through our Soil Doctor platform, we combine rapid soil diagnostics, agronomic intelligence, and technology to deliver actionable recommendations that improve soil health, crop productivity, and farm profitability.
Our philosophy is simple:
Healthy Soil → Healthy Plant → Resilient Crop → Sustainable Agriculture
We believe agronomy should be driven by scientific understanding rather than generic recommendations. Our mission is to transform soil data into meaningful farm decisions at scale.
Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and scientifically driven Agronomist to lead the development of crop nutrition and soil health recommendations across multiple crops and geographies.
The ideal candidate is someone who seeks to understand the underlying mechanisms of crop performance, nutrient interactions, soil chemistry, and plant responses rather than simply following standard fertilizer schedules.
You will play a key role in building advisory protocols, analyzing soil health data, supporting product development, and helping shape the agronomic intelligence behind the Soil Doctor platform.
Key ResponsibilitiesCrop Advisory Development
- Develop crop-specific nutrient management protocols for cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, and horticultural crops.
- Create soil test-based fertilizer recommendations aligned with crop growth stages and yield targets.
- Design nutrient correction strategies based on soil deficiencies, toxicities, and imbalances.
Soil Health Analysis
- Interpret soil test reports and translate analytical data into practical field recommendations.
- Evaluate the impact of soil properties such as pH, EC, Organic Carbon, CEC, salinity, sodicity, and micronutrient availability on crop performance.
- Identify root causes of field issues and recommend corrective agronomic interventions.
Agronomic Research & Validation
- Review scientific literature, ICAR recommendations, research papers, and field studies.
- Conduct validation trials and demonstrations to improve recommendation accuracy.
- Develop protocols for nutrient management, crop health improvement, and sustainable soil practices.
Technology & Product Development
- Collaborate with software, data science, and product teams to build scalable advisory systems.
- Support the development of recommendation engines, decision-support tools, and agronomic databases.
- Help define logic for crop-specific nutrient advisory algorithms.
Training & Knowledge Support
- Train field teams, Soil Doctors, and partner organizations on soil health and crop nutrition.
- Develop technical content, training modules, and farmer-facing advisory material.
- Support customer and partner queries related to agronomy and soil science.
Desired Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Thinks from first principles and enjoys solving field problems scientifically.
- Understands soil as a living ecosystem rather than merely a growth medium.
- Has strong knowledge of soil fertility, plant nutrition, and nutrient dynamics.
- Can connect soil chemistry with crop physiology and field performance.
- Is comfortable interpreting data and converting insights into actionable recommendations.
- Is curious, analytical, and eager to learn from field observations.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.Sc. Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy or Soil Science.
- M.Sc. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, or related discipline preferred.
- 1–4 years of experience in agronomy, crop advisory, soil testing, or agricultural extension.
- Experience working with soil analysis, nutrient recommendations, and field demonstrations.
- Familiarity with ICAR recommendations, fertilizer management, and crop production practices.
- Working knowledge of Excel, data analysis, and digital advisory tools.
What Success Looks Like
- Development of robust crop advisory protocols across 15+ crops.
- Improved accuracy of soil test-based recommendations.
- Creation of scalable agronomic intelligence for the Soil Doctor platform.
- Measurable improvements in farmer outcomes through science-based interventions.
Why Join Ekosight?
- Work on cutting-edge soil intelligence and precision agriculture solutions.
- Directly contribute to improving farmer livelihoods and soil health.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, engineers, and innovators.
- Opportunity to shape the future of data-driven agriculture in India.
