Operations Manager – Multi-Site Retail
Location: Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid)
Travel: Frequent travel to retail locations throughout Southern Ontario
Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 per year + Performance Bonus + Vehicle Allowance
About Us
We are a growing independent multi-location retail company operating throughout Ontario.
We believe great businesses are built through strong people, consistent execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced operations leader who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, developing managers, and helping build an exceptional operating company.
We are not looking for a cannabis expert.
We're looking for someone who wants to build an exceptional operating company.
If you've successfully led multiple locations, developed managers, improved operational performance, and built accountability systems, we can teach you our industry.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Operations Manager is responsible for improving operational performance across multiple retail locations.
You will work directly with the owner of the company and collaborate closely with our Territory Manager, Assistant Territory Manager, Inventory Manager, and Supervisors to strengthen accountability, improve consistency, develop leaders, and build systems that allow the company to continue growing.
This is not a traditional District Manager position.
This role is ideal for someone currently leading multiple locations who feels capable of making a bigger impact than their current role allows.
Your success will not be measured by how many stores you visit.
It will be measured by your ability to improve execution, strengthen accountability, reduce operational risk, develop managers, and build systems that eliminate recurring operational problems.
As the company grows, this position is intended to grow into a senior operations leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, and develop department managers and supervisors.
- Improve operational consistency across multiple retail locations.
- Build and improve operational systems, SOPs, and accountability processes.
- Identify recurring operational problems and implement permanent solutions.
- Develop and monitor operational KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Conduct operational audits and store visits.
- Strengthen accountability throughout the management team.
- Ensure company policies and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Lead operational improvement projects from planning through implementation.
- Perform root cause analysis following operational issues.
- Improve communication, efficiency, and execution across departments.
- Assist with compliance, onboarding, training, and operational initiatives.
- Work directly with the CEO to support acquisitions, expansion, and the company's continued growth.
What We're Looking For
- You naturally notice things other people miss.
- You ask questions before making assumptions.
- You enjoy improving systems and making businesses run better.
- You don't wait to be told what needs attention.
- You are organized, dependable, and enjoy solving recurring problems by improving the underlying system instead of repeatedly fixing the symptoms.
- You enjoy developing managers, strengthening accountability, and helping organizations become more effective.
- Most importantly, you're looking for more than just another operations job—you want the opportunity to help build something.
The Person We're Looking For Probably Enjoys Questions Like These
- Why do some locations consistently outperform others?
- Why does the same operational problem keep happening?
- How can we improve consistency across every location?
- How can we reduce mistakes through better systems instead of more reminders?
- How can we develop stronger managers?
- How can we identify operational risks before they become business problems?
If those questions genuinely excite you, we'd like to meet you.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years of multi-location leadership experience.
- Experience leading and coaching managers.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated success improving operational performance.
- Comfortable holding managers accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Ideal Background
We encourage applications from candidates with experience as:
District, Regional, Area, or Multi-Unit Managers, Retail or Operations Managers, Franchise Business Consultants, or similar multi-site leadership roles.
Relevant industries include retail, convenience, grocery, pharmacy, hospitality, franchise operations, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, and other regulated multi-site businesses.
Cannabis experience is welcome but absolutely not required.
Compensation
- $90,000–$100,000 annual salary based on experience
- Performance bonus
- Vehicle allowance or company vehicle
- Paid vacation
- Clear opportunity to grow into a senior operations leadership role as the company expands
To Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief cover letter answering the following question:
Tell us about one recurring operational problem you identified in a previous role.
Please describe:
- What the problem was.
- How you determined the root cause.
- What changes you implemented.
- How you measured whether your solution was successful.
We're far more interested in how you think than simply where you've worked.
This Position Isn't for Everyone
If your idea of operations is simply keeping stores running, this probably isn't the right fit.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building better organizations.
Someone who naturally notices problems before they become crises.
Someone who asks "Why?" before accepting "That's how we've always done it."
Someone who believes recurring problems should be solved permanently—not repeatedly.
If you've ever walked into a business and immediately started thinking:
- "This process could be better."
- "This manager needs coaching."
- "There's a simpler way to do this."
- "This problem shouldn't happen twice."
...then we'd like to meet you.
