Role Overview:

As a Senior Buyer, your primary responsibility will be to drive procurement, supplier management, and material planning activities to ensure uninterrupted material availability for the Chennai manufacturing plant. Your role will involve overseeing cost optimization, supplier performance improvement, inventory control, and adherence to Eaton's purchasing processes and compliance requirements. Your expertise in direct material sourcing, ERP proficiency, strong analytical capability, and leadership skills will be crucial in coordinating cross-functional stakeholders effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure direct materials in compliance with plant and corporate SCM procedures.
  • Review and process requisitions, converting them into purchase orders in MRP systems.
  • Manage PO updates for design or delivery changes, ensuring accurate SAP data maintenance.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues promptly (delivery, claims, quality).
  • Manage supplier fulfillment from PO issuance to delivery at the plant.
  • Evaluate supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct supplier performance meetings and capacity reviews for subcontracted items.
  • Implement supplier improvement programs in alignment with Eaton Supply Chain objectives.
  • Maintain material inventory levels according to plant targets and inventory analysts' requirements.
  • Conduct PFEP (Plan For Every Part) activities to optimize inventory and enhance OTD.
  • Address exception messages (pull-ins, pushouts, cancellations) and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams on ECN/phase-in/phase-out processes.
  • Work closely with logistics, warehouse, and production schedulers to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Interface with global and intercompany teams for pricing, lead time, expediting, and compliance updates.

Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Supply Chain Management.
  • Proficiency in SAP-MM/PP Module.
  • Strong understanding of import/local supplier management and inventory optimization.
  • Expertise in Materials Replenishment Planning, Supplier Performance Management, Total Cost Management.
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship management with employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and manage time effectively.
  • Passion for delivering excellence.
