Role Overview:
As the Transport Lead, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end transportation operations across the supply chain, ensuring the efficient movement of goods from Distribution Centers to stores and facilitating reverse logistics. Your role will involve leading logistics operations, managing third-party logistics (3PL) partners, driving service excellence through data-driven decision-making, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to continuously optimize the transportation network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end transportation operations, including Primary, Secondary, and Reverse Logistics across the distribution network.
- Manage logistics teams and oversee the performance of 3PL logistics partners to ensure seamless execution up to the last-mile delivery.
- Ensure timely vehicle placement, dispatch planning, and delivery execution while maintaining high service standards.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Planning, Merchandising, Stores, and external logistics partners to ensure smooth transportation operations.
- Analyze transportation and delivery data to identify root causes of supply chain failures, delivery exceptions, and operational bottlenecks.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve logistics efficiency and customer service levels.
- Monitor logistics performance using key operational dashboards and ensure timely reporting of critical metrics.
- Track and improve Primary, Secondary, and Reverse Logistics service levels through data-driven performance management.
- Monitor key logistics KPIs including:
- OTIF (On-Time In-Full)
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Transit Lead Time
- Vehicle Placement Efficiency
- Carrier Performance
- Reverse Logistics Turnaround Time
- Shipment Visibility
- Ensure adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and drive continuous improvements with logistics partners.
- Provide regular operational visibility and performance updates to the Supply Chain Control Tower.
- Ensure accurate shipment tracking, exception reporting, and proactive escalation of delivery risks.
- Support the Control Tower in improving network visibility, operational responsiveness, and decision-making through timely data sharing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers and transport partners.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with logistics partners against defined SLAs and contractual commitments.
- Drive vendor accountability through structured governance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Consult with internal stakeholders and logistics partners to identify opportunities for optimizing the transportation and supply chain network.
- Recommend process improvements, route optimization, fleet utilization enhancements, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Support the implementation of transportation technologies, automation, and digital logistics solutions to improve operational efficiency and visibility.
- Ensure transportation operations comply with statutory, safety, and company policies.
