Data Scientist (Operations Research)

As a Data Scientist I/II at Delhivery, you will be an integral part of the Data Science/AI team, which plays a crucial role in the company's operations by utilizing technology and algorithms to handle millions of parcels daily. Your primary focus will be on identifying and solving high-impact business challenges using vast data resources. This will involve tasks such as understanding addresses and their locations, optimizing network facilities and parcel distribution, predictive modeling for pricing and fraud detection, and building custom LLMs for business problem-solving.

In this role, you will take full ownership of problem statements, requiring you to switch between high-level business discussions and technical solution design and implementation. The team culture is ambitious, experimental, and fast-paced, empowering each member to make independent decisions and take end-to-end responsibility for their assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and understand business problems that can be addressed through data and analytics.
• Translate business problems into data-solvable formulations.
• Gather, analyze data, and build models.
• Analyze and test models/heuristics rigorously with a business-first approach.
• Communicate model results and analyses clearly to business managers.
• Collaborate with operational and other teams to translate data insights into business outcomes.
• Integrate insights and model outputs into core technology products in collaboration with product and technology teams.

Qualifications Required:

• Strong mathematics and logic skills.
• Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
• Deep knowledge and practical application of operations research, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, or simulations to unstructured industry problems.
• Common sense and an understanding of common logical fallacies.
• Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions to industry problems.
• 1 to 4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in a STEM subject from a top-tier institution (domestic or international).
