We are seeking a hands-on, proactive IT professional to support our infrastructure, users, and business systems across office and plant environments.
Position Summary
Daybar is seeking an IT Administrator / Network & Infrastructure Administrator to support, maintain, and improve our IT environment across office and operational locations. This is a full-time, on-site position, scheduled Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation to respond to end-user issues and system or infrastructure failures that impact core business operations.
Reporting directly to the IT Manager, this role combines hands-on technical support with responsibility for network administration, server and systems administration, infrastructure maintenance, endpoint management, and basic cybersecurity.
This is a broad, all-encompassing IT role. The successful candidate must be a proactive, go-getter professional with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, a willingness to take ownership, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The role requires someone who can understand business processes, translate operational needs into practical IT support and solutions, develop useful documentation for the area, and assist with any other IT-related tasks required by the business and the department.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the rest of the IT team to provide general support, respond to requests through the JIRA ticketing system, support remote users, and assist plant users through both standard enterprise systems and internally developed tools used within Daybar operations.
Key Responsibilities
Network and Infrastructure Administration
- Administer, maintain, and support network and infrastructure systems across all locations.
- Configure, test, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN environments, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, VPN connectivity, and internet services.
- Troubleshoot network performance, connectivity, and traffic issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Maintain Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization platforms, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, print services, and related core infrastructure.
- Monitor system health, logs, backups, storage, and resource utilization to ensure stable and reliable operations.
- Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, replacements, maintenance windows, and vendor-supported changes.
- Assist in evaluating, recommending, and implementing new infrastructure technologies, hardware, and software.
Systems Administration and End-User Support
- Provide advanced end-user support for desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, mobile devices, and business-critical applications.
- Perform installations, upgrades, replacements, and configuration changes for end-user hardware and software.
- Support Microsoft 365 and related collaboration tools, user accounts, permissions, and access requests.
- Monitor, manage, and respond to support requests through the JIRA ticketing system, ensuring proper prioritization, follow-up, escalation, and resolution.
- Provide support to both plant users and remote users, including assistance with internally developed business tools and operational systems.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand business and operational issues and translate them into effective IT support, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Train users and new hires on supported technologies, standard procedures, and security-aware practices.
- Support business-critical events and operational periods, including month-end, inventory, cutovers, and go-live activities, as required.
Cybersecurity and Device Management
- Apply and monitor patches, updates, firmware, and configuration changes in accordance with company standards and security best practices.
- Support core cybersecurity controls including access management, endpoint protection, backup verification, log review, MFA-related processes, and alert follow-up.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and the identification of unusual activity or suspicious access.
- Support data loss prevention practices and tools, including Microsoft Intune or similar platforms where applicable.
- Administer and maintain mobile device management solutions for company-managed devices.
- Help maintain security documentation, incident records, and cybersecurity procedures.
Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Continuity
- Ensure systems and business data are backed up appropriately and that backup jobs are reviewed regularly.
- Maintain disaster recovery procedures and participate in regular recovery testing and validation exercises.
- Support business continuity objectives by identifying infrastructure risks, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
Documentation, Projects, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation for network topology, server configurations, system inventories, licensing, standard procedures, incident logs, technical knowledge bases, and support processes.
- Develop effective project timelines based on business and departmental priorities.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, and operational improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Identify recurring technical issues, document trends and root causes, and recommend corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain documentation that helps translate business processes into clear IT procedures, support practices, and knowledge sharing within the department.
- Work with external vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate implementations, support, and procurement activities.
General IT Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the IT team to provide general IT support across the business.
- Assist with any other IT-related duties, tasks, projects, or support activities as required by the department and the needs of the business.
- Maintain a team-first attitude and contribute where needed across infrastructure, support, documentation, systems, and operational IT activities.
Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
- Daybar does not offer sponsorship of any kind for this position.
- College diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in IT administration, network administration, systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar hands-on IT role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows server environments and solid working knowledge of Linux systems.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including switching, routing, VPNs, firewalls, wireless networking, and TCP/IP.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, endpoint devices, and user access administration.
- Strong knowledge of backup operations, storage administration, disaster recovery, and system administration best practices.
- Basic working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including patching, endpoint security, access control, backup validation, device compliance, and incident awareness.
- Experience with Intune, MDM, endpoint policy management, or related tools is considered a strong asset.
- Experience working with ticketing systems such as JIRA is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to document systems, recurring issues, support procedures, and operational processes.
- Ability to understand business needs and translate business processes into practical IT support and technical solutions.
- Must demonstrate a proactive, go-getter mentality, strong ownership of tasks, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also following direction and working effectively as part of a team.
- Certifications in networking, infrastructure, Microsoft, Linux, virtualization, cloud, or cybersecurity are considered an asset and will put candidates ahead of others.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site role.
- Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for maintenance, upgrades, emergency response, go-lives, plant support, or project activities.
