Job Summary

The Office of General Counsel/Compliance Paralegal provides substantive and organizational support to the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) and Compliance team across various areas of law. As a key member of the Compliance team, the Paralegal supports the development and implementation of efficient workflow procedures and provides operational coordination and support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the firm-wide Compliance Program to minimize and manage risk.
  • Manage and organize confidential files and records related to compliance matters, ensuring accuracy, timely updates, and proper documentation.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of spreadsheets, legal documents, and contractual agreements to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and firm policies.
  • Review and manage trust disbursements under the supervision of the OGC.
  • Perform first level review of Outside Counsel Guidelines on behalf of the Compliance team, according to predetermined standards; work with Compliance Counsel on items requiring supplemental review.
  • Monitor firm compliance with client AI requirements and guidelines.
  • Monitor the Business Associates Agreement Document Library to ensure that contents are kept current.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread cover letters, administrative memos, and Word documents.
  • Manage updates, corrections, and annual refresh of Firm policies.
  • Index and summarize documents and files; assist in the maintenance of OGC/Compliance document and policy libraries.
  • Schedule meetings and trainings; track training attendance, completion of online trainings, and policy attestations.
  • Track and circulate new ethics opinions in jurisdictions with firm offices.
  • Perform basic legal and factual research; provide factual analysis and prepares summaries of same.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment, and to manage workflow to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and analyze large volumes of qualitative and numerical data in spreadsheets with sustained attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge or guidance and analyze and interpret data from several sources to solve problems.
  • Ability to develop and implement technical solutions, including through the use of generative AI where appropriate, to increase efficiencies.
  • Ability to perform basic legal and factual research and factual analysis.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding office data and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
  • Knowledge of law firm compliance functions and/or accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of records management.
  • Ability to work overtime hours as necessary.

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program preferred.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly related legal, corporate and/or administrative experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated. Familiarity or experience with law firm or corporate compliance programs is preferred.

US Pay Range

$66,000—$87,000 USD

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
