LOCATION: Remote, must be based in Los Angeles metro for client visits
About The Role
The Associate Media Director (AMD) is a high-visibility role tasked with architecting and executing performance-driven media strategies that bridge the gap between complex data and business growth. This is a role for a strategist-operator, someone who can command a room and then dive into a platform to audit match-type strategy or auction dynamics without missing a beat. You will own the strategy and the accountability for hitting daily performance targets and company growth goals. You will translate technical platform performance into high-level growth narratives that emphasize lead generation and churn reduction.
What You’ll Do
- The Associate Media Director brings a senior level of forward-thinking and innovation to media plan development, ensuring plans deliver against the client KPIs and overall audience channel strategy.
- Foster deep-rooted client relationships through occasional on-site presence in the client’s office, ensuring a seamless integration between agency strategy and client needs.
- Maintain a “boots-on-the-ground” understanding of Google Ads and Bing Ads, fluent in query mining, impression share analysis, and the technical nuances of the auction.
- Manage and own significant budgets with a relentless focus on hitting targets; tracking daily performance and providing high-level summaries that prove ROI and long-term value.
- Establishes & oversees team’s planning process including research, strategy, evaluations, and recommendations of media vehicles and tactics.
- Leads media team integration and collaboration with client and internal teams, working with Client Partnerships, Strategy & Insights, Creative, PR, Channel, and Content.
- Meets with clients on strategic issues and plan presentations.
- Leads, motivates, and mentors media strategy team, assigning workloads and promoting teamwork.
- Leads high-level partner negotiations to increase and expand media value and visibility.
- May review and evaluate partner media proposals as submitted, developing POVs as needed.
- Assists media management with staffing decisions and provides ongoing evaluations of media staff.
- Oversees professional development of assigned staff, working with Media Strategy Director to identify areas of improvement.
- May specialize in broadcast, programmatic or other areas within the organization, depending on the client assignment.
- Understands and abides by the agency’s business practices, core values, and policies.
- Participates in agency new business efforts, presentations, and other key department projects as needed.

- Establish and manage positive relationships with internal teams, clients and media partners.
- Stays on the forefront of digital trends and seeks opportunities, bringing forward proactive ideas and solutions.
- Develops solid understanding of assigned client business verticals, objectives, and strategies.
- Maintains accurate daily time sheets and a business-appropriate appearance.
- Minimum seven years’ experience in paid media planning and buying across all media preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated leadership ability.
- Experience with planning/buying media including traditional channels, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, Programmatic DSPs, and social platforms.
- Familiarity with agency research tools including Google Analytics, ad servers, competitive research, etc.
