Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, Park Café, the Park Café Server will provide exceptional customer service and quality products to ensure our restaurant guests have a wonderful experience that exceeds their expectations. The Park Café Server will provide friendly and caring service, and engage guests through our food and drink menu items, highlighting the specials. The Park Café Server will ensure the accuracy of food and drink orders taken, the prompt delivery of orders, correct cash handling procedures and transactions, and maintain a tidy section. The Park Café Server is also responsible for assisting with new staff training and coaching.

Key Accountabilities

Serving

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all customers by greeting and acknowledging all customers as they come in contact with.
  • Assists patrons select food and beverage choices by presenting menu and offering cocktails/beverages and courses.
  • Explains menu options to patrons.
  • Answers food preparation questions and seeks guidance from kitchen staff on special dietary requirement questions.
  • Records and transmits customer’s orders to kitchen ensuring options are clearly recorded.
  • Maintains table settings by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs on a continual basis.
  • Punches orders into POS; issues bills and accepts payment from customers.
  • Acts as ambassador to APC answering questions about attractions and special events happening both in the restaurants and within the park as a whole.

Training and Administration

  • Assists with the training of new servers.
  • Coaches and mentors junior serving staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Intervenes and aids staff when necessary to promote customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures all areas are stocked and operating efficiently to maximize APC revenues.
  • Ensures maintenance of the restaurant and equipment to APC standards.
  • Enforces proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with effective cash management and cash-out procedures.
  • Acts as a key holder for opening the restaurant when required.
  • Acts as a liaison between the kitchen staff and front of house staff to resolve problems.

General Duties

  • Adhere and comply with all APC policies, safety regulations and safe work practices that will ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a professional image while working and provide extraordinary experiences to our park visitors while performing daily work activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

About You

  • You have previous experience in the food services industry
  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Exceptional communications skills and ability to get along well with others
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift
