About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting Consultant to support the finance function following a recent spin-off. Reporting into the finance leadership, you’ll join a lean finance team and take ownership of a critical priority: strengthening how revenue transactions flow into reporting and improving the overall revenue strategy and visibility.

This is an ideal engagement for someone who can step into a fast-moving environment, work through messy data, and quickly turn it into documented, reliable, and usable revenue reporting—while helping the team build confidence in the outputs and processes as they determine a longer-term operating model.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of revenue-focused technical accounting support, with emphasis on how transactions translate into revenue reporting
• Review, clean up, and reconcile messy revenue-related data; identify gaps and inconsistencies
• Document existing revenue processes and data flows; formalize repeatable approaches the team can continue using
• Analyze Deferred Revenue and Accounts Receivable to understand and validate the supporting balances
• Produce and support a recurring reporting cadence, including:
• Day 2: Generate a consolidated revenue report
• Day 8–9: True-up revenue data and add narrative commentary (revenue + customer trends)
• Day 15: Deliver revenue trend reporting and coach the team on how to interpret/use the reports
• Day 20: Support full financial statement preparation and related deliverables
• Build and refine datasets to establish year-to-date clarity (e.g., what has changed since last year’s results)
• Support SaaS revenue recognition models and ensure revenue reporting aligns to the underlying transaction activity
• Work with tools including Chargebee, Looker (Tableau), and QuickBooks to extract, validate, and report revenue insights

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience focused on revenue and how transactions and revenue recognition/reporting connect end-to-end
• Proven ability to step into an environment with incomplete or messy data and quickly impose structure (cleanup, documentation, repeatable reporting)
• Experience producing revenue reporting and insights, including revenue and customer trend commentary
• Comfort operating in a lean finance team and executing independently without the ability to rotate internal resources into the function
• Experience with or willingness to work in:
• Chargebee
• Looker (Tableau)
• QuickBooks
• Familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition models and related reporting considerations
• Other ad-hoc tasks as required
