Job Description
Join CDM Smith's Industrial Division as an Electric Utilities Project Manager and be part of an exciting and growing team serving electric utility clients throughout the United States. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to lead project engineering teams on critical design initiatives that include consulting, engineering, and construction management across a variety of sectors such as Transmission and Distribution (T&D), substations, generation, civil works, geothermal projects, and environmental initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex engineering projects from their initial concept through detailed design and construction support.
- Leading a team to develop project scope, schedule, and budget in collaboration with our sales and marketing teams.
- Overseeing multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure compliance with deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Managing quality, risk, scheduling, and change management processes effectively.
- Serving as a mentor and leader, fostering teamwork among project members.
- Engaging in technical problem-solving with your team and providing oversight to ensure standards are met.
- Being the main liaison for clients, ensuring excellent communication and service delivery to enhance client relationships.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand offerings with existing clients.
- Applying innovative solutions to complex challenges, supported by the engineering team.
- Collaborating effectively with quality managers and technical specialists within the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is required (to be obtained within 12 months of hire).
- A willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as needed (approximately 10% travel).
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
