Job Description
Our client, a forward-thinking educational institution, is seeking a creative and experienced Curriculum Developer to design and enhance online courses for higher education. This is a fully remote contractor role, offering significant flexibility. You will be responsible for translating learning objectives into engaging and effective instructional content, ensuring alignment with pedagogical best practices and industry standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in instructional design, curriculum development, and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS). Responsibilities Design, develop, and revise engaging and effective online course materials, including lesson plans, learning activities, assessments, and multimedia resources. Translate complex subject matter into clear, concise, and accessible content for diverse student populations. Ensure all curriculum aligns with established learning objectives, accreditation standards, and institutional guidelines. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and faculty to gather content, validate accuracy, and ensure pedagogical soundness. Utilize instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create a variety of learning experiences, incorporating multimedia, interactive elements, and real-world applications. Develop assessments (quizzes, exams, projects) that accurately measure student learning outcomes. Integrate technology effectively into the curriculum, including the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle. Create instructor guides and student support materials. Review and edit existing course content for clarity, accuracy, and engagement. Stay current with trends and innovations in online education, instructional design, and educational technology. Manage project timelines and deliverables for multiple curriculum development projects simultaneously. Participate in quality assurance reviews of developed courses. Provide training and support to faculty on curriculum and LMS utilization as needed. Qualifications Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design, with a focus on online or distance learning. Demonstrated experience in designing engaging and interactive online courses. Proficiency with one or more major Learning Management Systems (LMS) (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle). Strong understanding of adult learning principles and pedagogical theories. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) for online content is desirable.
