Position Overview
Career Connections is currently recruiting for a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving / Material Handler on behalf of a manufacturing client. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving incoming materials, verifying shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and organizing materials for production. This position involves frequent manual material handling and requires a strong commitment to safety, organization, and teamwork.
Please note that forklift operation is a small portion of the role, with most of the day focused on receiving, inspecting, sorting, and storing materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Verify quantities and identify any damaged or missing materials.
- Safely unload, move, and store materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
- Organize and stock materials in designated storage locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies to the Team Lead.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation related to incoming shipments.
- Ensure materials are clearly identified and readily accessible for production requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with purchasing, production, and quality teams to support efficient operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Electric Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
- Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently and up to 50 lbs as part of a team lift on a regular basis.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred
- Previous shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Experience with inventory management systems or ERP software.
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
