Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Cable Technician / Structured Cabling Installer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various commercial and industrial environments. Your expertise will ensure reliable network connectivity, efficient telecommunication systems, and secure surveillance solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects involving fiber optics, Ethernet cabling, CCTV systems, and more, all while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support.

Duties

  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and other low voltage wiring in accordance with schematics and industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code).
  • Perform fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal performance for high-speed data transmission.
  • Set up and troubleshoot network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, VoIP systems, and Ethernet switches to establish robust LAN (Local Area Network) connections.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess cabling pathways, power requirements, and system integration needs.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely to install cable trays, conduits, patch panels, racks, and telecommunication equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute installations.
  • Provide field service support by diagnosing issues with telecommunication systems or network hardware and performing necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Assist in the setup of CCTV surveillance systems with knowledge of camera placement, wiring techniques, and system configuration.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, testing results, and system configurations for client records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards such as NEC regulations while working in data centers or electrical environments.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in low voltage wiring, structured cabling, or telecommunications systems.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and testing equipment such as OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers) or OPMs (Optical Power Meters).
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts including Ethernet cabling, LAN/WAN architecture, Cisco routers/switches, Juniper devices, and VoIP telephony solutions like Avaya or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and telecommunication standards such as NEC regulations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools (crimpers, wire strippers) as well as power tools safely in various installation environments.
  • Experience working in data centers or large-scale network environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
