Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport across various routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent driving skills. The Truck Driver will play a vital role in ensuring timely delivery while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate trucks and heavy equipment to transport fuel to designated locations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance
- Load and unload fuel, ensuring proper handling of fuel
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel use, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered on the road.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial canadian driver’s license (AZ class license).
- Clean Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Certificate
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Valid Canadian Fuels Association Certificate
- Experience and specialization in handling bulk fuel.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for record keeping and compliance documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during routes under Compliance.
- Commitment to safety standards and regulations at all times.
Documentation Knowledge
- Accident and incident reports
- Bill of lading (BOL)
- Dangerous goods (TDG) documentation and occurrence reports
- Electronic or paper driver logbooks (E-Logs)
- Pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection reports
- Maintenance and repair documentation
- Trip and delivery reports
Communication Systems Experience
- Operate GPS and onboard communication systems
- Use dispatch and fleet management systems
Transportation Experience
- Petroleum / fuel hauling experience preferred
- Long-haul and short-haul deliveries
- Bulk liquid tanker operations
- Cross-border deliveries (asset)
Security and Safety Requirements
- Valid Class AZ Driver’s Licence
- Clean driving abstract
- Driver’s licence validity check
- Criminal record check
- Pre-employment and random drug testing
- Valid TDG certification
- FAST card (asset for cross-border)
Transportation / Travel Information
- Manual transmission experience required
- Willing to travel cross-border(U.S.)
- Willing to travel overnight and for extended periods
- Travel expenses paid by employer
