Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, this is a pivotal role with end‑to‑end accountability for ensuring our customers’ homes are safe, compliant, and well‑managed — today and for the future.
You’ll design and deliver a proactive compliance framework that not only meets regulatory and statutory obligations, but genuinely enhances customer safety and confidence, embedding compliance as a core enabler of high‑quality service delivery.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Setting and leading a 1st line landlord safety compliance strategy aligned to corporate priorities and regulatory expectations
- Providing expert advice to executive leaders on current, emerging, and future compliance risks
- Owning strategic oversight of the six core areas of landlord safety:
- Gas
- Electrical
- Fire
- Asbestos
- Water hygiene (Legionella)
- Lifts and lifting equipment
- Designing strong governance, assurance, and reporting frameworks, ensuring clarity, control, and early risk identification
- Using data, insight, and trend analysis to move the organisation from reactive compliance to predictive risk management
- Championing a customer‑centric compliance culture, where safety, wellbeing, and experience underpin every decision
- Developing organisational capability through training frameworks, guidance, and knowledge transfer
What you’ll bring
- Significant senior leadership experience in a complex, regulated compliance environment (housing, property, or a similar sector)
- Deep understanding of landlord safety regulation and the expectations of the Regulator of Social Housing
- A strong track record of building and sustaining robust, transparent compliance frameworks
- Confidence influencing at executive and board level, translating technical risk into clear, actionable insight
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, RICS, CIH or similar), with a commitment to complete CIH Level 5 if not already held
