Job Description
The National Fleet Manager is responsible for the oversight, performance, and compliance of the company’s fleet supporting security operations across all regions. This role ensures all vehicles are fully operational, properly maintained, and aligned with safety, regulatory, and operational standards required in a fast-paced security environment. The position also plays a critical role in supporting frontline teams, minimizing downtime, and ensuring rapid response capability.
The position is based out of our Head office in Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Readiness
● Manage the company’s national fleet of security vehicles to ensure maximum uptime and operational readiness.
● Ensure all vehicles are maintained, repaired, and serviced promptly to support 24/7 security operations.
● Oversee preventative maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and service disruptions.
● Ensure all vehicles meet cleanliness and presentation standards appropriate for security operations.
● Monitor vehicle availability to support emergency response and client service requirements.
Operational Support
● Provide immediate, ad hoc support for fleet-related issues impacting security operations.
● Coordinate rapid response solutions to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of service.
● Work closely with operations teams to prioritize critical vehicle needs.
Leadership, Communication & Policy Development
● Lead, coach, and support mobile managers and supervisors on fleet policies and best practices.
● Communicate, implement, and enforce company fleet policies and procedures nationally.
● Establish and standardize fleet management processes and policies to ensure consistency nationwide.
● Act as the primary point of contact for fleet-related escalations and internal stakeholders.
Compliance, Licensing & Insurance
● Maintain up-to-date vehicle insurance, registrations, and documentation.
● Ensure all drivers are properly licensed, authorized, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
● Monitor and enforce adherence to company driving policies and security protocols.
● Ensure vehicles meet any industry-specific compliance standards required for security services.
Incident, Damage Reporting & Risk Management
● Lead investigations into vehicle-related incidents, accidents, and damages.
● Report all damages, risks, and operational concerns to appropriate internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
● Monitor and investigate driver infractions, misconduct, or negligence.
● Collaborate with Health & Safety and HR teams on incident resolution and corrective actions.
● Maintain detailed incident reports and ensure proper documentation for legal and insurance purposes.
Fleet Tracking & Reporting
● Maintain accurate fleet tracking systems, logs, and documentation.
● Monitor vehicle usage, performance, and compliance metrics.
● Prepare and analyze monthly fuel (gas) reports to track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
● Track trends related to incidents, maintenance, and driver behavior.
Procurement & Lifecycle Management
● Manage procurement of new fleet vehicles aligned with operational needs of the security business.
● Coordinate vehicle wrapping and upfitting (e.g., lights, radios, security equipment) where required.
● Oversee logistics including delivery, deployment, reassignment, and decommissioning of vehicles.
● Manage vehicle lifecycle planning and replacement strategies.
● Building relationships with external vendors to source cost effective services and equipment.
Health, Safety & Policy Enforcement
● Ensure all fleet activities align with occupational health and safety standards.
● Promote a strong safety culture among all drivers and operational staff.
● Ensure completion and compliance of pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
● Enforce safe driving practices and adherence to all company policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Minimum 3–5 years of fleet management experience, preferably in security, logistics, or a related 24/7 operations environment.
● Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet operations, and compliance requirements.
● Solid understanding of insurance processes, claims handling, and liability management.
● Experience managing teams across multiple regions.
● Proven ability to handle incident investigations and risk management.
● Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
● Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
● Experience in the security industry or similar high-response operational environment is an asset.
● Familiarity with fleet tracking systems (Zubie) is an asset.
● Knowledge of vehicle upfitting for security purposes to ensure compliance with provincial security licensing requirements
