Heavy Civil Site Superintendent

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 base salary + bonus

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and growing heavy civil contractor operating across the GTA, is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead the successful execution of municipal and provincial infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in managing field operations, coordinating project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budgets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day site operations on heavy civil construction projects
• Lead crews, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure safe and productive execution of work
• Coordinate project schedules, manpower requirements, equipment, and materials
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and contract requirements
• Maintain and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Conduct site meetings, toolbox talks, and daily planning sessions
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, consultants, and clients
• Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, safety records, and progress updates
• Support project cost control efforts by monitoring labour productivity and resource utilization
• Foster positive relationships with municipalities, owners, consultants, and project stakeholders

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Site Supervisor on heavy civil infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience delivering municipal infrastructure projects including roads, underground servicing, watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, grading, and related work
• Mandatory experience working on provincial projects for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO).
• Strong understanding of MTO specifications, standards, and contract requirements
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
• Sound knowledge of construction sequencing, productivity management, and quality control
• Proficient with project documentation and reporting tools
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driving record
• Gold Seal Certification, COR knowledge, First Aid/CPR, and health and safety training are considered strong asset
