AWS Developer – Backend

Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a AWS Developer – Backend specialized in Python and AWS. The position involves developing and extending core application capabilities within a dynamic IT project team focused on AML investigation and negative news screening processes. You will leverage your backend development expertise to support automation efforts and enhance system efficiency, contributing significantly to ongoing client projects.

Pay rate range (CAD): $63.00/hr – $68.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using Python, ensuring scalability and robustness
• Design and implement solutions leveraging AWS services, including Lambda functions, S3, and others
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend systems with AngularJS front-end components
• Manage database design and queries with PostgreSQL, focusing on JSONB data structures
• Create and maintain API endpoints and backend architecture standards
• Utilize Liquibase or similar tools for database migration and version control
• Support application deployment and monitoring in cloud environments
• Contribute to technical design, code reviews, and documentation activities

Desired Skill-Set

• Strong hands-on experience with Python (backend development)
• Extensive experience working with AWS cloud services, including Lambda functions and AWS CDK
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, especially JSONB data handling
• Hands-on experience with Liquibase or similar database migration tools
• Knowledge of API development and backend architecture principles
• Basic integration experience with AngularJS (version specified)
• Familiarity with SQL data modeling and intermediate database skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across teams
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS tools such as Sagemaker and other AWS developer services
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks beyond AngularJS, such as React
• Cloud automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) skills
• Prior experience in financial services or AML investigations
