Job Overview
A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Agent/Technical Advisor to join its patent counseling and prosecution practice in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess industry experience and a degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering.
Duties
- Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
- Analyze patent and scientific papers to assist attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
- Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
Requirements
- Industry experience in chemical engineering or material science.
- Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering.
- Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
- Initiative and ability to work well with others.
- Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.
Education
- Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or related field).
- Advanced degree is a plus.
Certifications
- Registered US patent agent or eligibility for USPTO registration.
