Job Description
Lanzhou Oriental International Secondary School (LOISS), an accredited BC Offshore School since 2013, is recruiting a Senior English/Humanities teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role could include a VP designation (and one block of teaching relief) for qualified candidate.
Located in the capital of Gansu province, the gateway to culturally-rich northwestern China, we are a small but well-established BC program. With four BC teachers and a projected enrolment of 60 students in 2026-2027, we envision growing each year to meet our five-year projection of ten BC teachers and 200 students. BC teachers are supported by an excellent bilingual national staff. Each year, our graduates go on to top universities in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia.
We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and are looking to recruit a teacher who understands that BC education is so much more than what happens in the classroom. We invest in our students and their success through classroom interactions and a range of co-curricular activities throughout the year. You will be joining a team of experienced educators who have built a close-knit learning environment.
As well as the competitive annual compensation and incentives package in an area of China that allows great savings potential, BC teachers receive a number of benefits from the host school. Paid trips, gifts at Chinese and Western festivals and holidays, and banquets throughout the year ensure that the BC teachers feel a valued part of the LOISS community.
Apply to join the LOISS team by emailing Dr. Lee Smith at smith6@ualberta.ca with a cover letter, an updated CV, the names of two professional references, and a copy of your university degree(s).
